Salam Alaikum dear sisters. How are you feeling today?

Warm welcome new sister to the group. 🌸☀️

Today is Day 9 of our emotional detox plan*, and we are stepping into a powerful form of healing:
understanding your emotional triggers.

🌺 Emotional Intelligence Task: “My Emotional Triggers”

Recognising your triggers is an act of deep self-awareness, and it’s a key part of any emotional detox or counselling process.
Most therapy models like CBT, trauma-informed therapy, or inner child work begin by identifying what situations provoke a strong emotional response. Naming triggers gives you insight into the root causes of your patterns (not just the surface behavior).

My aim today is to help you start recognising your own triggers, not to blame or shame yourself, but to learn, to heal, and to reconnect with your truth.

Triggers are signs. They show us where attention is needed.
They are the answers to questions like:
“Why did I shout at my kids so suddenly?”
“Why did I feel so emotional when my husband pointed something out?”

Most of the time, our triggers are rooted in unhealed past wounds.
We’re not “too emotional” we’re carrying something old that hasn’t been heard yet.

So today take your time and:

📝 1: List Situations That Trigger Strong Reactions

Take a moment to reflect. You can write in your notebook or simply close your eyes and feel.
The situations may be recent or from years ago.

Here are a few examples to get you started:
1. Being ignored when I express a need
2. My husband correcting me in front of others
3. People making me feel like a burden when I ask for help

Now write your own. It can be more than 3:
• ⸻
• ⸻
• ⸻

🩹 2: Dig Deeper -*What Wound Does This Touch?*

For each situation, ask yourself:

Is this linked to childhood rejection?
Is this about fear of abandonment, shame, or not feeling good enough?

Examples:
• “Being ignored” → Touches my wound of feeling invisible growing up.
• “Corrected publicly” → Triggers my fear of humiliation or being judged.
• “Feeling like a burden” → Taps into my shame around needing support.

This part takes honesty and gentleness. Be kind to yourself as you reflect.

🌬 3: Regulation – How Can I Respond, Not React?

That’s a common question: “What do I do when I’m triggered?”

Here’s your practice:

• Pause. Don’t rush to respond.
• Be with the feeling. Let it move through your body, don’t suppress it.
• Take 3 deep breaths
• Go drink water or make wudu

Then say to yourself:

“This is an old wound, not today’s reality.”
• Journal or make du’a before difficult conversations
• Set boundaries from a place of peace, not pain

In real-time:

When emotions rise during a conversation, it’s okay to say:

“I’m feeling strong emotions. I need space and will come back when I’m okay.”

Take your time. You don’t need to prove anything or enter conflict.
You know your truth. Stay grounded in it. When you’re ready, come back and speak from calmness, not from reactivity.

🤲🏽 4: Heart Du’a

🌸 Du’a is real healing just like emotional awareness.

Triggers are signs that healing is still needed.
Don’t ignore them. Don’t fear them. Notice them.

And if you’re ever overwhelmed, unsure, or need support, you can message me. There are many gentle tools that can help you move forward .

But remember this:
If you sincerely ask yourself:

“What does this trigger teach me about what I still need to heal or surrender to Allah SWT ?”

…*The answer will come.*
Just listen to your inner world.

And never forget you don’t have to do this alone. Reach out. Let someone hold space for you.

You can return to today’s task anytime, InshaAllah but I encourage you to go day by day, one task at a time.
Don’t rush. Don’t try to catch up.
Healing isn’t a race.

🌸 To the sisters who recently joined: start from the day you joined, Allah’s SWT timing for your heart is always perfect.
Take what you need from today. Let the task work through you -not just for you.

*Wishing everyone peace and to learn more about yourself.*🌸🤲🏻
