We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters, 🌸
How are you feeling today?
A warm welcome to our new sister.❤️
Today about DISAPPOINTMENT.
Disappointment is not always something negative. Very often, there is something deeply good hidden within it - it frees us from illusions.
It releases us from places where we waited too long, hoped too long, endured too much, and kept telling ourselves “just a little more patience and things will change”, while in reality, nothing truly changed.
Disappointment often does not come to break us, but to help us finally see the truth without decorations, excuses, or false hope.
I call disappointment a wake-up call.
For many women, this is a familiar story. We know how to endure, to wait, to understand, to empathise, and to justify, even when it hurts deeply. We often confuse endurance with strength, believing that holding everything inside is patience.
But then comes a moment when something inside quietly stops believing in the illusion. Without drama, sometimes without words, the soul begins to resist.
In Islam, truth (ḥaqq) is a form of mercy. Disappointment is not weakness - it is the moment when the soul becomes tired of lying to itself. It is the moment when we can no longer pretend that what hurts us is acceptable, or that what has never truly fit will somehow start fitting.
Sometimes disappointment reveals immature expectations placed on others. But more often, it is the moment when crumbs are no longer enough instead of wholeness, and promises without action lose their power over us.
We often fear disappointment because we think it means failure, admitting that we were wrong, that we hoped too long, that we gave too much. But in truth, disappointment is often the first moment of clarity after a long period of emotional self-numbing and self- betraying. When illusions fall away, it may feel uncomfortable, sometimes very painful - but it becomes clear.
At that point, we no longer need to convince anyone, save anyone, or carry relationships, situations, or people who are not walking toward us. We no longer need to explain why something hurts - the pain becomes a fact, not a debate. And here, a choice appears: either we try to rebuild the illusion just to feel “comfortable” again, or we step into the truth -which is not always easy, but deeply freeing.
Islam teaches us that Allah SWT does not ask us to live in self-deception. Truth returns our energy, the energy we gave where it was not received. It allows us to stop fighting reality and stop believing words that are not supported by action. It invites us to choose ourselves -not with slogans, but with decisions.
At this stage, it is important not to judge ourselves or attach labels that do not belong to us.
*Disappointment is not the end - it is a door.*🚪
Often, it is the only door out of emotional fog. When illusions dissolve, space appears for a quieter, more mature peace and for concrete, grounded steps forward.
If you are feeling disappointed right now, do not run from this feeling.
It did not come to destroy you, but to show you where your boundaries are and where your value lies.
Very often, disappointment becomes the beginning of a life where you no longer have to diminish yourself, wait endlessly, or prove your worth.
Allow yourself to fully feel disappointment -even to the point of “I can’t anymore.” Sit with it honestly, with all its emotions, until it passes. Allow yourself to grieve what did not happen, what did not become what you hoped, what did not live up to the ideal you carried.
If the disappointment is about yourself, allow that too -without cruelty, without shame.
And most importantly, trust Allah SWT, for disappointment is something He allows to guide you.
And then, continue your life with mature conclusions, ones that will colour your future with new awareness, not old illusions.
So when you feel disappointed, pause, accept the truth of what is happening, and consciously place what you cannot change back in Allah’s SWT hands.
May Allah SWT grant us hearts that can face truth with courage, souls that do not abandon themselves, and wisdom to recognise when patience is faith and when truth is mercy.
Wishing everyone peace in your heart. ❤️
