We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️

Salam Alaikum dear sisters 🌸
I hope you are all feeling well today.
A warm welcome to the new sisters who have joined our group. ❤️

Sometimes the mind becomes tired from constantly trying to understand everything, predict everything, and control everything.
And then a very simple but powerful step we can take is to pause.
To be honest, many people are afraid to pause because it can bring up anxiety.
Often, when we don’t want to feel uncomfortable emotions, we start protecting ourselves in different ways. We may try to control situations, criticise others, compare ourselves with people, or focus on problems and complaints. Some of us withdraw or disconnect from our feelings by escaping into work, the internet, constant activity, or by living in the past or worrying about the future. But these are often ways our mind tries to avoid the feelings that are present.

Bring your attention back to your body.
Notice that you are sitting.
Notice your breathing.
Feel your hands, your legs, your back.

And you may notice something very simple: beneath all the effort to try, change, or achieve something, there is already a space that holds you. A space where you don’t have to prove anything, where you can allow yourself to feel exactly how you feel right now.

Not “the right way.”
Just the way it is.

Instead of saying:
“I am angry.”
“I am anxious.”
“I am scared.”

We can gently shift from identifying with the emotion to simply noticing that the emotion is present:

“I notice that anger is here.”
“I notice that fear is present.”
“I notice that anxiety is arising.”

In this way we move from identifying with the emotion to becoming aware of the emotions and feelings that are present.
This kind of awareness is a well-known practice in emotional regulation, and it also resonates beautifully with Islamic concepts such as muhasabah (self-reflection) and tazkiyah (purification of the heart) -*pausing, observing our inner state, and gently returning our hearts to Allah SWT*.

All methods can be helpful when they guide us back to awareness, responsibility for our inner state, and trust in Allah’s wisdom.

For sisters who would like guidance and support to release emotions, we will be offering Free 1:1 support session starting next week, InshaAllah.

If you feel this could support you, you are welcome to reach out.

May Allah SWT bring peace to our hearts, ease to our worries, and barakah into our lives.
Ameen🤍
