We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters. I hope you all are doing well today.
As I promised, today I write about:
THE NATURE OF DESIRE IN MEN
Just as we clarified that women’s desire is often responsive, men’s desire also has its own biological and psychological patterns and understanding these differences removes pressure, prevents misunderstandings, and creates harmony in couples life.
Understanding differences is not about blaming, but about building mercy and balance.
⭐️ Men’s desire is often spontaneous
Most men‼️experience desire that appears quickly, suddenly, and without specific emotional triggers.
✔ This is normal male biology.
✔ Driven by testosterone.
✔ Does not mean he is “obsessed,” “shallow,” or “overly demanding.”
Men’s bodies send desire signals more frequently - not better or worse, just different.
You can often hear that a man is ruled by testosterone.
But men are not ruled only by testosterone or desire, they are also shaped by their values, character, self-control, and emotional maturity. Testosterone influences behaviour, but it does not determine a man’s entire personality or his decisions.
⭐️ Men bond through physical closeness
And here we are different:
Women often need emotional closeness to feel physical desire.
Men often need physical closeness to feel emotional connection.
Physical intimacy makes men feel loved, reduces stress, gives confidence, and acts as emotional reassurance.
This is biology + psychology, not selfishness.
⭐️ Men’s desire is linked to their identity
Rejection fir men often feels like:
❌ “She doesn’t love me.”
❌ “I’m not good enough.”
❌ “She doesn’t find me attractive.”
❌ “I’m failing as a husband.”
Open and kind communication is essential.
⭐️ Men also need emotional safety
They need respect, kindness, appreciation, to feel desired, and emotional connection in a masculine way.
Physical closeness is often their doorway to emotional vulnerability. And actually all women feeling that.
⭐️ Stress affects men differently
For many: stress increases desire as “relief.”
For others: stress decreases desire especially financial pressure, work stress, or feelings of failure.
It depends on personality, upbringing, and life circumstances.
And here, men should recognise themselves. A conscious man pays attention to his own emotional patterns, notices what stress does to him, and communicates it with honesty instead of withdrawing or expressing it through frustration.‼️
⭐️ Men desire being desired
A deep need: “I want my wife to want me.”
Not only to “agree,” but to show affection, warmth, gratitude, attraction, and interest.
*Men rarely speak about this, but it matters enormously.*‼️
Please sisters, pay attention to this point, as I believe your spouse didn’t tell you that.
Islam honors men’s desire and acknowledges men’s strong desires while stressing:
💚 mercy
💚 gentleness
💚 patience
💚 communication
💚 protecting hearts
“The best of you is the best to his wife.”
A wife is not created to be pressured, and a husband is not created to be starved emotionally or physically.
Balance and kindness must govern everything.
Dear Sister: his desire is not “excessive,” it is how Allah SWT designed him. Often women call a man “hypersexual”, and yes, some men may genuinely struggle with excessive or unhealthy patterns, but in many cases, he is not hypersexual at all. He simply has a normal male biology and a spontaneous desire that is being misunderstood.
And Dear Brother: her responsive desire is not rejection she has different biology.
Understanding each other brings mercy instead of frustration.
So how practically to find the balance and solution will text you soon InshaAllah.
P.S. I hope you all did last exercise, and InshaAllah I will reflect on it next time too.
And if you are single now, don’t skip these reflections - this is the time to learn, understand yourself and other gender, differences and similarities, and build the foundation for a peaceful future marriage.
Wishing everyone, sincerely, to know yourself and your spouse more deeply. InshaAllah
