We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are feeling well🌸.
But if you haven’t been feeling your best, it may be worth reflecting on today’s topic: PSYCHOSOMATIC HEALTH.
So often, the aches and pains we feel in our bodies don’t start in the body at all -they begin in the mind.
Clinical psychologist Dr. Melissa Jones explains:
“Anxiety can often show up as stomach pain or even diarrhea. When your mental state causes or worsens physical symptoms, this is called psychosomatics.
It’s normal to feel a fluttery stomach before something new or nerve-wracking. But for those living with ongoing anxiety, the body keeps sending those signals all the time. Over time, the discomfort can grow stronger - sometimes becoming migraines, digestive issues, or other physical pain.
Many believe psychosomatic symptoms ‘aren’t real,’ but they absolutely are. The symptoms are real and they have a psychological cause.”
🌸 A Simple Psychosomatic Self-Test
Take a moment to reflect: how many of these signs feel true for you?
🔴 In the months before your pain started, you went through major stress, grief, anxiety, or felt dissatisfied with life.
🔴 You live with, or have lived with, depression or severe anxiety.
🔴 Your pain changes in intensity throughout the day or from one day to the next.
🔴 Symptoms fluctuate (for example, worse in the morning, lighter in the evening).
🔴 Pain in your body often shifts from one place to another.
🔴 Symptoms flare up during stressful times (job changes, heavy workload, conflict).
🔴 Symptoms return in certain seasons or situations (holidays, family gatherings, etc.).
🔴 When you’re deeply engaged, distracted, or having fun, symptoms ease, but they return afterward.
🔴 Pain worsens when you’re tense or after physical activity.
🔴 Doctors find nothing medically wrong, yet the pain persists (or they find structural issues that don’t fully explain your chronic pain).
🔴 You worry about your health more than most — constantly wondering if something serious is wrong, fearing illness, or battling negative health-related thoughts.
🌷 Sisters, your pain is real. Your body is not betraying you, it is speaking to you. Sometimes what feels like a “mystery illness” is your mind’s way of crying out for rest, healing, and gentleness.
Treatment for psychosomatic disorders involves a comprehensive approach: addressing both the physical symptoms and the underlying psychological factors.
This may include therapy, stress-management techniques, relaxation practices, lifestyle changes, and, when needed, medical care.
💌 Dear Sisters, we need to let go of the old belief that healing comes only through the body.
True healing is holistic -it embraces the body, mind, and spirit together. And whenever you experience something, whether it’s just a simple sneeze or a severe headache, it’s worth going back and reflecting on the questions above. Of course, not everything is psychosomatic, but in the end, our mind, feelings, and body are always interconnected.
Here’s your main message with the new line about home atmosphere added in smoothly:
🌸 In childhood, up until about 7 years old (now it’s said until child is living in your house) , children are deeply connected to their mother’s energy field.
Many of their symptoms
actually mirror the mother’s worries and anxieties. *A calm and content mother often means a healthier child.*‼️
💡 To help you reflect, here are some practical tools and guiding questions that may help when your child is unwell:
• What emotions am I experiencing right now: stress, fear, sadness, exhaustion?
• Has there been conflict, tension, or big changes in our family recently?
• Am I giving myself enough rest, care, and calm moments, or am I constantly anxious and stressed ?
• Do I notice that my child’s symptoms ease when I myself feel calmer?
• What simple practices (prayer, breathing, journaling, walking, gratitude) can I do to bring myself peace, which may also help my child?
🌿 And here is *something important to remember*‼️: sometimes you notice your child gets sick more often in certain seasons, like autumn, winter, or even suddenly in summer. It’s often said that “there are more viruses when the weather changes” and that “everyone is sick”, but that’s not the whole truth. A child who is strong in mind, body, and soul is naturally more resistant to illness.
🏡 REMEMBER your atmosphere at home is very important for everyone’s health. A peaceful, loving, and calm home supports well-being, while stress and tension can weaken it. When the home feels safe and gentle, both children and adults grow stronger in body, mind, and spirit.
💌 Be kind to yourselves, dear sisters. Care for your hearts as much as your bodies, minds and remember when you nurture your own peace, you are also nurturing your family. A calm, joyful, and gentle mother spreads health and harmony to everyone around her. And never forget to feel your own value - you are precious, and your well-being matters. 🌷
