We for You | Daily Reflection | by Maryam ❤️

Salam Alaikum dear Sisters🌸
I hope you are all well today, InshaAllah.

Even though Thursday has passed, our usual day for reflecting on our bodies, I wanted to carry that reminder into today. Take a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect, not just spiritually but also with how you care for your body, an amanah entrusted to you by Allah SWT.

Do you know one of the most important vegetables women should eat every day?

When we are told to “eat more vegetables,” we rarely think about the biological impact behind that advice. But certain vegetables, especially cruciferous ones like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale contain powerful bioactive compounds that play a significant role in supporting our health at a cellular level.

Many of these vegetables come from Brassica oleracea (wild cabbage), developed naturally over time, not genetically modified, but carefully cultivated. Called cruciferous for their cross-shaped flowers, a sign of Allah’s beautiful design. 🌿

These vegetables are rich in compounds like indole-3-carbinol (I3C), diindolylmethane (DIM), and sulforaphane -names that may sound complicated, but are very beneficial for health.
They are not just nutrients -*they actively influence gene expression, detoxification pathways, and hormone metabolism.*

For example:

🌿 I3C converts into DIM in the stomach, which then *helps regulate estrogen metabolism*-this is particularly important for women’s hormonal balance.

🌿 Sulforaphane supports Phase II liver detoxification, enhancing the body’s ability to neutralise and eliminate toxins, while also increasing glutathione, one of the body’s most important antioxidants.

These processes are essential because detoxification is not just about “cleansing”- it’s about the body’s ability to process, transform, and safely eliminate harmful compounds, including excess hormones and environmental toxins.

Interestingly, sulforaphane is not present in its active form until the vegetable is chopped, chewed, or broken down, activating the enzyme myrosinase. This is a powerful reminder that even *the way we prepare our food impacts its biological effect.*❣️

From a women’s health perspective, supporting these pathways influence:

✨ hormone balance
✨ PMS symptoms
✨ estrogen dominance
✨ inflammatory responses
✨ overall cellular protection

And the beauty is -this doesn’t require extreme changes. Simply incorporating these vegetables regularly into your meals can gently support these systems over time.

There is often concern about cruciferous vegetables and thyroid function. In reality, when consumed in normal dietary amounts, especially when cooked, they are safe and beneficial.
The concern mainly arises with excessive intake of raw forms over long periods.

This is a reminder for all of us, to move from passive eating to intentional nourishment.
Food is not only fuel⛽️ , it is information for the body, influencing how it functions at the deepest level.

Taking care of our bodies is part of honouring the trust Allah SWT has given us.❤️

Dear Sisters, we are what we eat. Every choice we make is an expression of our free will. Let us choose with awareness-nourishing our bodies with natural foods that Allah SWT has created for our benefit, with care and gratitude.

May Allah SWT grant us health, balance, and barakah in our bodies and our lives. Ameen 🤲🏻✨
