I am inviting everyone today to reflect and speak with one another, especially with your children, about the seriousness of lying.
Use these Hadith as a starting point for honest conversations.
Share your personal experiences:
• times when you lied,
• times when you regretted lying,
• or moments when you discovered someone else’s lie and how it affected your heart.
These discussions help build trust, awareness, and emotional honesty within the family.
The Prophet pbuh said:
“When a believer sins, a black spot appears on his heart…
If he repents, it is removed,
but if he continues, the spot increases.”
— Sunan Ibn Majah 4244
This supports the understanding that: lying slowly changes and hardens the heart.
The Prophet pbuh said:
“Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire.”
— Sahih Muslim 2607
The Prophet pbuh said:
“The signs of a hypocrite are three:
When he speaks, he lies;
when he promises, he breaks his promise;
and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust.”
— Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
The Prophet pbuh said:
“A believer may commit any sin — except betrayal and lying.”
— Musnad Ahmad (authentic)
