🌸 Assalamu Alaikum dear sisters, I hope you are feeling well today.
I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow on Zoom for what I truly believe will be an amazing and much-needed speech on boundaries.
In my own personal practice, one of the biggest struggles I see over and over again is that many people find it incredibly difficult to set healthy boundaries. We often worry that saying “no” is unkind, or that protecting our time, energy, and well-being somehow makes us selfish. But our faith teaches us otherwise.
The Prophet Muhammad pbuh modeled healthy boundaries with wisdom, mercy, and compassion. He taught us to:
🌿 Respect privacy by seeking permission before entering someone’s home and by avoiding spying on others.
🌿 Set healthy limits in relationships by encouraging kindness while also upholding each person’s rights and refusing to tolerate abuse or injustice.
🌿 Protect time for worship, family, work, and rest, reminding us that balance is part of our deen and discouraging harmful extremes.
🌿 Uphold justice by establishing clear boundaries against oppression, dishonesty, and violating the rights of others, regardless of who they were.
🌿 Respect consent and human dignity, teaching that no one has the right to harm another physically, emotionally, or financially.
Emotionally, the Prophet pbuh was the perfect example of strength wrapped in mercy. He was patient and compassionate, yet he also walked away from pointless arguments, corrected inappropriate behaviour with wisdom, and never allowed disrespect towards Allah’s commands or the rights of others.
His example reminds us that setting boundaries is not unkind–it is Sunnah. Healthy boundaries are compatible with kindness, compassion, and good character. In fact, they protect our peace, preserve our relationships, and honour the rights Allah has given us.
I pray you’ll join us tomorrow, InshaAllah . Whether you’ve struggled with people-pleasing, saying “yes” when you wanted to say “no,” or simply want to build healthier relationships through an Islamic lens, this session is for you.
Looking forward to seeing you all 🤍
