We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters. 🌸
I hope you are feeling well today.
I recently received an email from one of my lecturers saying that he had made a mistake. He apologised and signed his message with the words: “I love myself even with my mistakes.” That reminded me of something powerful - we are all human, and we all make mistakes.
Very often we feel shy, afraid, or uncomfortable when it comes to apologising.
In psychology, apologising is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of emotional maturity. It shows self-awareness, responsibility, and the courage to admit when we are wrong.
Saying “I’m sorry” heals relationships. It softens hearts. It rebuilds trust. And most importantly, it helps us grow. When we sincerely accept our mistakes, we are saying: I love myself even with my imperfections.
Intentions matter here.
In Islam, making mistakes is part of being human. The Prophet pbuh taught us that every child of Adam makes mistakes, and the best of those who make mistakes are those who repent. Allah SWT loves those who sincerely turn back to Him. Apologising is not humiliation - it is purification. It cleanses the heart from pride and fills it with humility.
To apologise sincerely:
• Acknowledge the mistake clearly.
• Take responsibility without making excuses.
• Express genuine regret.
• Intend not to repeat it.
• If possible, repair the harm caused.
Islam teaches humility and tawbah. Psychology teaches accountability and emotional growth.
Sisters, loving ourselves “with our mistakes” does not mean ignoring them. It means accepting our humanity while striving to improve. It means choosing growth over ego. It means choosing humility over pride.
❤️ May we always have the courage to say, “I was wrong.”
❤️ May we always have the mercy to forgive.
❤️ And may Allah SWT purify our hearts from arrogance and fill them with humility, peace, and love.
With love 🤍
Maryam
