I’m not sure who needs to read this, but what you are going through right now will not last forever.
A day may come when you sleep without the same weight on your chest.
You may see Du‘as answered that you once wondered would ever be answered.
And you may look back and recognise ways Allah was taking care of you that you simply could not see while you were in the middle of it.
But until then, remember this:
Allah sees what you are going through.
He sees the tears that nobody else thinks much of. He knows the thoughts that keep you awake at night. He knows the things you desperately wish you could change but cannot.
And He hears the Du‘as you have made so many times that you almost feel tired of repeating them.
Do not think they have gone unheard.
Allah is Al-Mujeeb. He has not forgotten you.
And the answer to Du‘a does not always arrive in the form we were expecting.
The Prophet ﷺ taught that when a Muslim makes a Du‘a that contains neither sin nor the severing of family ties, Allah gives him one of three things: He hastens the answer for him, stores it for him in the Akhirah, or averts from him an equivalent harm. (Musnad Ahmad 11133)
So even if you cannot yet see what Allah is doing through the delay, your Du‘a is not lost with Him.
Allah ﷻ says:
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٥﴾ إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٦﴾
“For indeed, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” (Surah ash-Sharh 94:5–6)
Notice the wording. Allah does not only tell you that ease comes after hardship. He tells you that with hardship is ease.
What you can see right now is the difficulty.
What you cannot see may be the doors Allah is opening, the harms He is keeping away from you, the strength He is building in you, and the ease He is preparing in ways you do not yet recognise.
Ya‘qub عليه السلام spent years grieving for Yusuf, not knowing when relief would come.
Yet even in that grief, he said:
قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
“I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.” (Surah Yusuf 12:86)
And after years of separation, Allah reunited them in a way Ya‘qub could never have imagined.
So do not measure Allah’s care for you by how easy your life feels today.
Keep making Du‘a. Keep praying. Keep turning back to Him.
And when the waiting becomes hard, remember the words of Ibn ‘Ata’illah رحمه الله:
“Do not let the delay in what you have asked for, despite your persistence in Du‘a, cause you to despair. He has guaranteed you a response in what He chooses for you, not what you choose for yourself, and at the time He wills, not the time you desire.” (Al-Hikam al-Ata’iyyah, Hikmah 6)
Perhaps one day you will look back at the very thing that keeps you awake tonight and understand something you cannot understand now.
And perhaps you will find yourself saying:
"Alhamdulillah that Allah chose for me better than I could have chosen for myself."
