Salam Alaikum sisters🌸 How are you feeling today?
“ I’m tired to repeat go wash your hands”. “ My kids not washing hands after school, I need to remind each day”.
“ She is not listening to put shoes in place”.
“ He is not cleaning his room”.

These and similar words parents saying about their kids behaviour. I’m hearing it so often that seems we all having same kids.
These all are daily routine tasks, some of them can become habits!

So today about HABITS AND ROUTINE

•A routine is a behaviour what frequently repeated.

•Habit is the impulse to do a behavior with little or no conscious thought.

Kids are going through fazes of their development, so the best is to respond and teach them skills and formate habits/ to follow daily routine according to their development and on time.
If you won’t skip or ignore natural development stages you will teach kids to follow rules more consistently.
Kids always copying us. Around 3 years old kids starting to ask questions “WHY”. It’s crucial time to slow down and answer them. If children feeling ignored, invisible and they having lack of empathy communication from parents, they starting distancing from the daily routine tasks too and establishing wrong habits.
If you want consistency you should be available adult.

That’s why most of the children loosing interest in daily routine and loosing good habits when they starting nursery and school as there is no one who paying attention, reminding ect. Also kids mire feeling tired and stressed.
Home schooling, private schools having more benefits for children’s natural development in this case.

It can be various reasons why you or your kids struggle to stick to anything consistently, such as a lack of intrinsic motivation, setting unclear goals, not finding enjoyment in the activities, being overwhelmed by the effort required, tiredness and stress.

So what to do if children lost interest or not having skills and habits?

It’s never too late to teach and to establish. To establish new habit takes minimum 21 day focusing on it.

Parents trying many tactics and methods to shape kids behaviour by bribing, praising, rewarding, punishing but from my own experience I can confirm that all these methods working temporary if working at all and they aren’t helping kids to establish habit or stick to the routine.
We need to focus to establish natural internal motivation.

So whenever you want to change yourself or your children behaviour, you can simply ask yourself these questions:
1. How can I make it obvious?
2. How can I make it attractive?
3. How can I make it easy?
4. How can I make it satisfying?

And see the capabilities of the child. We can’t demand from the children to do something if it’s above their capacity and capabilities, and if they are missing skills.

Please read 4 questions above and think how you can make simple tasks: washing hands, cleaning room, cooking ect obvious, attractive, easy and satisfying.
Obviously pay attention to child’s age, natural development, additional tools you can use…

I’ll be continuing tomorrow InshaAllah.
Meanwhile you can share on group what helped you and your kids to follow routine, rules and establish new habits.
Have a nice day. Salam Alaikum ❤️
