Salam Alaikum dear sisters 🌸
How are you feeling today?
It’s Thursday -another beautiful day to reconnect with our bodies. 💫
Today let’s keep the focus again on what we bring close to our skin and into our bodies.
We often forget that “detox” doesn’t start with a green smoothie to detox body, it starts with what we touch, breathe, apply to our skin, and place on (or in) our bodies.
Detoxification isn’t just about the liver - it’s about reviewing everything in our environment.
Everyone today has heard how bad are plastic food containers, disposable coffee cups, or Teflon pans. But few women think about another source of plastic that’s even closer to our bodies -pads and tampons.
Even if not daily, most women use them at least once a month.
And yet, they are one of the main sources of microplastics entering directly into our bodies.
🚫 Pads and tampons contain polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyester, the same materials used to make garbage bags and plastic bottles. And not only that, they’re often “seasoned” with bleaching chemicals, fragrances, phthalates, and pesticide residues.
It’s not only the *vaginal mucous membrane that absorbs what touches it, but the delicate skin of the vulva and labia also allows chemicals from pads or liners to enter the body.*‼️
This area is thin, sensitive, and highly absorbent, which means that whatever we place there matters. That means every month, our bodies receives a microdose of a chemical cocktail straight into our bloodstream.
⚠️ Compounds like phthalates act as endocrine disruptors -they bind to estrogen receptors and throw hormone function out of balance. The result-irregular cycles, PMS, breast tenderness, mood swings, and, over time, an increased risk of endometriosis or fibroids.
💔 In short -*your hormones are not fans of this kind of plastic “spa.”*
We always have choices: like organic, plastic-free, chlorine-free pads or tampons 100% organic cotton etc.
The decision between tampons and pads or menstrual cups is highly personal and depends on factors such as comfort, lifestyle, and individual preferences. Some women may find that a combination of products works best for them, adjusting based on their activities and flow intensity during different days of their period. But I personally not recommend tampons or menstrual cups, for a few reasons.
One of the main concerns is that they can disrupt the natural balance of the vaginal environment. Tampons absorb not only menstrual blood but also the vagina’s natural moisture, it leads to dryness, irritation, and an increased risk of infection. Another reason is that tampons can block the natural flow of menstrual blood, causing clots or residual blood to remain inside the vagina longer than intended. This can create discomfort and, in some cases, may contribute to an environment where bacteria can thrive. Menstrual cups are an invention, but I don’t recommend wearing them for long periods or using them if you have certain pelvic conditions, especially prolapses, vaginismus, IUD.
I also see that many women do not accept their feminine energy and bodies, and often treat their periods as something dirty or gross. It’s usually passed down by mothers or women who shaped our early patterns of thinking and belief. But dear sisters, if you feel this way, it becomes difficult to truly connect with and embody your feminine energy. Your menstrual cycle is not a burden, it’s a reflection of your body’s wisdom, rhythm, and power.
Learning to honor and embrace it is a sacred part of reconnecting with your natural flow. 🌸
And in our Sunday classes, we are connecting more deeply with ourselves -learning to listen, to feel, and to honor our feminine energy and bodies, and to accept our periods as a blessing. 🌿
Remember: your body deserves purity, gentleness, and respect. Choose natural, organic, and toxin-free options whenever you can - because your hormones, your energy, and your future self will thank you.
