One of the sisters just messaged me privately and asked:
“But how do we deal with triggers?”
And I thought this is such an important question, it’s worth answering here for all of us, in case it benefits someone else. I’ve written many messages about triggers before, but we all need REMINDERS.
What supports me most is mindful awareness — simply being here, now, and connected to what’s really happening inside me.
Mindful awareness means being fully present in the moment and consciously observing your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and surroundings without judgment.
It’s the practice of noticing what’s happening inside and around you with curiosity instead of automatic reaction.
When I’m triggered by my husband or children, situations or other people I PAUSE and ask myself :
“What is Allah SWT trying to show me through this?”
I look inward and questioning myself:
What’s happening inside me?
What I’m feeling?
What need is being ignored?
What are these people and situations mirroring in me?
And I know their emotions and words are about them, and as well telling me a lot about their inner world.
Exactly what most of you dear sisters need separate from your own emotions and feelings.
That self-awareness helps me grow instead of react.
Tell you a real situation:
Yesterday, I asked my husband a simple “why,” to his question and he got triggered.
I felt triggered too, but caught myself: “Wrong energy.”
I realised I was just tired.
I said, “Let’s talk later when we’re both ready. I need to rest,” and I went to feel emotions, used few techniques and slept for two hours.
That pause saved our peace.
Later, we reflected together and realised that the root cause was actually in our unmet needs, and something what’s deeply rooted in childhood.
My self-awareness didn’t develop overnight. My husband was on his own small journey of self-discovery, while I came into the marriage equipped with knowledge but also carrying my own inner child wounds.
Sisters this kind of growth takes time.
Even after 20 years of studying allopathy, alternative medicine, psychology, and deeply exploring the mind, body, soul, communications, emotions, relationships and triggers — and going through my own personal self-development journey — I still get triggered.
But now, I know how to pause, reflect, and respond with intention.
My advice : Just practice to see yourself, feel emotions, notice triggers, patterns and take support if needed. But invest to yourself time, finances and your energy.
So be patient with yourself.
Growth takes time.Awareness grows one moment at a time and it always benefits you and family.
