We for You | Daily Reflection | by Maryam ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters. 🌸
How are you feeling today?
One sister asked how to help a child understand that sometimes we don’t have enough money to eat out, and I thought I’d share what worked for me.
Instead of just saying “we can’t afford it,” I turned it into a simple, real-life lesson.
One weekend my kids wanted burgers. My first thought was to to order or go out, but instead we made a plan. We wrote a list of what we needed and guessed how much it might cost. At the shop, the kids found everything themselves, checked prices, and even looked for cheaper options.
One of my little rules was to choose organic or more natural ingredients, so they also learned that it’s not just about price but quality matters too.
When we got home, we cooked together and ate. Afterwards, they said it themselves: eating at home is cheaper than ordering or going out. It was such a powerful moment.
Since then, when we went to a café or shop, I set a small limit (like £9 each) and let them choose within that. If something is too expensive, they understand why, not because I said no, but because it simply doesn’t fit.
This way, they naturally learn:
✅that money has limits
✅that we need to make choices
✅that quality vs price is a real decision
✅and that we can still enjoy things in a different way 😊
💡 Little idea to try:
Before going out, agree on how much you can spend and let your child choose within that.
Let me know if you tried it and how it worked. 💕
