Salam Alaikum sisters.🌸 How are you? How often you are calling your children capricious? Are you a capricious person yourself ? Usually we are calling children capricious without a reason, just without really seeing their needs and what they are communicating that moment. But capricious person as well is raised not born. Usually in families where everything is allowed, where child is a “king or queen ” and he or she is continuously pampered and pleased. This is a consequence of the lack of spending time together with parents, and being loaded with presents and money. And not necessary it’s happening in very rich families. NOTE: Constant material reward for good behavior and performance of household duties also provokes pampered child syndrome. I personally not recommend to use rewards ( rewards charts, points, stars ect) for trying to shape the behaviour, or please a child if he or she is doing household chores as it’s a MANIPULATION. Very quick children and parents give up on that and then children growing they naturally loosing interest in these rewards and/ or starting demand more. What you will offer to the child then he will be a teenager?
Pampered child syndrome may also occur at preschool age. When mom or dad buys something each time to calm the baby, the child begins to understand that he/she gets something for bad behavior.
Capricious is used to describe people who are impulsive and unpredictable, changing mood or behavior suddenly and unexpectedly. This means that the person is inconsistent or changeable, often in a way that it’s difficult to understand or cope with. To be called unpredictable and impulsive is not such a bad thing. But sometimes, being capricious is being fickle can obstruct your and others life. So while adventurous personality is great, being out of control can do more harm than good.
Btw bipolar disorder is often misunderstood as a capricious state.
