Reflections after recent consultations

When a person says, “I’ve tried everything and it didn’t help,”
it usually means they’ve only tried what was easy, not what actually transforms.

*In reality, they’ve only tried what was comfortable for their nafs*- what didn’t challenge their habits, ego, or way of life.

To be fair, not everyone is lazy. Some are stuck, overwhelmed, misinformed, or carrying things they don’t fully understand. But even then, the path forward still requires effort, responsibility, and change.

Human being naturally avoids discomfort.
In psychology, this is energy conservation and cognitive bias. In Islam, it is the pull of the nafs toward ease and resistance to discipline.

So the mind begins to create illusions.

It justifies.
It minimizes.
It says: “I’ve done enough.”

And over time, a person starts believing it.

But the human being is not just nafs. Within him there is also ʿaql (intellect) and qalb (heart).

The ʿaql recognises truth.
The qalb inclines toward it.
But the nafs resists it.

This is the inner struggle.

At a certain stage in life, a person reaches a point where change is no longer optional. In psychology, it’s identity restructuring. In Islam, it is tawbah, a real turning back.

At that point, one of two things happens:

*Either the ego breaks*…
Or the person is reborn.

You cannot stay in comfort and illusion forever.

There comes a stage where real change is required.

This is *metanoia*-a shift in thinking:

From fear → to trust (tawakkul)
From passivity → to responsibility
From comfort → to discipline (sabr + ʿamal)

*A person cannot continue the same life without this shift.*❣️

Like a caterpillar entering the cocoon-there is no return.

Real change requires effort beyond comfort. Psychology calls it deliberate effort.
George Gurdjieff called it “super-effort.”

In Islam, it is jihad al-nafs striving against the self.

And here is the turning point:

*A person must choose*-
Remain in illusion,
or begin real work.❣️

Because until then, everything is just performance:

“I tried.”
“I searched.”
“I’m interested.”

But the real path begins with:

✅ daily discipline
✅responsibility
✅willingness to endure discomfort
✅and letting go of the old self

This is why most people stop.

Because the real path always has a price.

And that price is your ego, your habits, your excuses, your old identity. It needs time and commitment to yourself.

So people choose motivation instead of transformation ( think how many of you JUST listening for motivational speakers?).

Information instead of action ( how many of you researching, saving but never using this information?)

Comfort instead of truth.

But it doesn’t work.

The real path always seems too hard, too long, too uncomfortable.
That is exactly why it works.

✅*If you truly want to restore your health → change your lifestyle*.

✅*If you want strong relationships → learn responsibility and adab.*

✅*If you want provision → develop discipline, effort, and trust in Allah SWT.*

Wishing everyone ḥikmah (wisdom) and courage to take real steps.
Because change doesn’t come from knowing or trying - it comes from acting.
Allah SWT does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves.

No steps - no change.
Everything else is intention without transformation.
