Salam Alaikum sisters, 🌸hope you are doing well today.
There is no stupid questions, just answers.
I was agreeing with this sentence always.
But… once I was told:
“Still, there are stupid questions! And that doesn't mean you're stupid.
Children hear them all the time...
- And what is here?
-What color is this?
- Show me where your nose is?
- How many balloons are there?
- What is the magic word?”
This is such a common way to communicate with children that this my message can even cause strong emotions and rejection for many of you now😤.
I can’t deny I had some negative feelings about it too. Because it’s making to turn to our inside and rethink actions and words towards the kids.
I want to invite you to look again at these situations/ sentences through the eyes of a child.
How would you feel if you were CONSTANTLY tested?
Especially when you're focused on what you're doing (and it might be you just watching the sun shine on the wall).
Only when we are children, we don't know what is normal and what is not, but we still notice that adults communicate with each other differently, they don't press or point to their noses, they don't kiss when the other doesn't want it, they don't tell them to say thank you or they don't shape their voices.
It means communication with children is like a show, not an authentic relationship?🤔
It is important to remember that conscious and positive parenting first is to turn to yourself and educate yourself that you can see another person in front of you ❤️
Children are people like we all are. And they deserve respectful communication.
I wish everyone create an authentic connection with children, consciously turn to themselves and notice whether we are really behaving respectfully or just as usual…not seeing that in front of us is not an unconscious doll, but a conscious, thinking and receptive, smart person - A CHILD. ❤️
