Those who don’t know what to ask their kids about school you can read this 11 year old child reflection why children not liking school.

An 11-year-old participant of the "In the Name of Tomorrow" conference tells why children don't like school.

1. School doesn't teach you that you can and should make mistakes, because that's the only way you can learn something.
2. Teacher. As soon as you come to school, they immediately try to instill fear in you. One of them is the teacher's fear.
3. Fear of evaluation. After the first fear, the fear of evaluation develops. And then intimidation by the punishment of the parents, the school principal. In school, they don't look at who you are, they only judge you by your grades.
4. Fear of making a mistake. Another fear is the fear of making a mistake. School doesn't teach you that you can and should make mistakes, because that's the only way you can learn something.
5. Bullying. Another reason is teasing by classmates. And often it is the fault of the teachers who expose the children to ridicule, showing that they are doing something not as well as their classmates. For them, the grade is more important than the student. I attended the children's art club, I learned how to weave beads, sculpt, make leather bracelets and much more. And when the leader of my group came to my school to offer training and told me about my achievements, the deputy was surprised: "Motiej? It can't be!”
6. Stupid tests. Those tests they give in class are incredibly stupid because they don't have an answer option. In order to get a good grade, the child tries to guess one of the suggested answers, but after all, he may have his own opinion, which he cannot write. I don't think the time will come when everyone will remember all the capitals of the world, everything that poet wrote, the square root of five. It seems to me that if a person is interested in something, he learns more than a child in 12 years of school. And if he needs knowledge from other fields, he can easily get it.
7. Amount of homework. I have read that there is no evidence that homework affects children's achievement and education. Once I was given so many English assignments that after 3 hours of writing I stood up and couldn't stretch my neck. I was taken to trauma and I walked around in a neck brace for a week.
8. Uniqueness is prohibited. Schools don't really like it if someone is different from others. It starts with the teacher, is passed on to the students and stays with them for life.
9. School doesn't teach you to be happy. I read that when John Lennon of The Beatles was five, his mother told him that the most important thing in life is to be happy. Then he went to school and there they asked him: "What do you dream to be in life?" He answered: "Happy." He was told, "You don't understand the task." To which he replied, "You don't understand life."
10. The school does not teach how to work with information. For example, on YouTube I watch a channel where a physics teacher explains the material in an easy and interesting way. Reading or reviewing such resources can transform dozens of boring lessons.
11. School does not prepare for adult life. School is preparation for adult life. But it does not teach how to save and increase income, how to get it, or how to earn at all. I think that the most important thing in school could be a lesson in which we are taught to understand each other. After all, knowing how to communicate is the most important thing.
