Salam Alaikum, Sisters.🌸 How are you feeling today?
Today about MANIPULATIONS AND SILENT TREATMENT.
Yes, we all manipulate—whether consciously or unconsciously, manipulation is part of everyday interactions. However, it’s important to understand that CHILDREN DO NOT MANIPULATE INTENTIONALLY. If you think your child is manipulating you intentionally, you’re mistaken.
❗️Sisters, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that children don’t have the skills to manipulate out of revenge or to dominate you.❗️
One of the most common forms of manipulation in relationships is SILENT TREATMENT.
Both men and women use this tactic, and its roots often trace back to childhood.
The silent treatment involves ignoring someone to make them feel guilty or to assert control. Instead of resolving conflicts, it creates emotional distance and fosters resentment.
This type of manipulation is classified as negative or “black manipulation” because it’s a power game.
• Many people who use the silent treatment grew up experiencing “silent days” from their parents or witnessed their parents solving problems this way.
• While it might seem like a way to manage conflict, the silent treatment is actually a form of harmful manipulation.
HEALTHY COMMUNICATION means:
• Expressing your needs honestly.
• Taking the other person’s interests and feelings into account—but remembering that you are not responsible for other people’s feelings.
• Speaking openly about how you feel.
Start by saying, “I FEEL…” and then share your emotions without fear.
Address conflicts directly, share your feelings, and listen to the other person’s perspective. Focus on mutual understanding instead of power struggles.
❗️REMEMBER:❗️
Healthy relationships thrive on communication, not manipulation.
Let’s strive to create spaces where honesty, empathy, and respect replace control and games.❤️
More about manipulations in class this Sunday, InshaAllah. 🤗
