Salam Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters, I hope you are feeling well today.
Today about: Mismatched sexual desire.
Many couples quietly struggle with mismatched sexual desire in marriages and it’s often misunderstood. One common concern is:
“Why do married women seem to want sex less?”
Scientific studies across the world, from the Kinsey Institute, BMJ, and Archives of Sexual Behavior, show that married women’s sexual desire often drops over time, but not because they no longer love their spouse or value intimacy.
Instead, it’s usually due to a complex mix of factors:
🩺 1. Physical & Hormonal Exhaustion
• Many women, especially mothers feel drained and depleted emotionally and physically.
• *Conditions like anemia, hormonal imbalance, or even heavy periods take a toll.*‼️
• *Pregnancy, breastfeeding, miscarriage, and stress affect estrogen and libido, often leaving her with very little energy or sexual desire.*‼️
🧠 2. Mental Load & Emotional Fatigue
• While some men see sex as a way to relieve stress, many women need to feel mentally relaxed and emotionally safe first.‼️
• When her mind is full of tasks , managing a household, caring for children, keeping everything running, there’s no space left for desire.
Research shows that *women carrying this invisible “mental load” are far more likely to experience low libido.*‼️
💔 3. Emotional Disconnect or Pressure
• *If sexual intercourse feels like a duty, or if she’s afraid of being blamed or replaced, desire NATURALLY disappears.*‼️
• Women need emotional intimacy to feel safe enough for physical closeness. ‼️
Without that, sex becomes something they give, not something they enjoy.
But Intimacy Is Not Only Intercourse. Too often, we reduce intimacy to just sexual intercourse, when in reality:
❤️Intimacy is shared laughter.
❤️Intimacy is warm conversation.
❤️Intimacy is holding hands.
❤️Intimacy is feeling emotionally safe.
❤️Intimacy is a back rub after a long day.
❤️Intimacy is being seen, heard, and appreciated.
*True intimacy is when two people connect beyond the physical and from that connection, desire naturally return.*‼️
❤️ So, What Couples Can Do?
• Replace pressure with patience
• Replace expectation with empathy
• Create homes where love includes emotional support, physical care, and gentle communication.
Easy to say? Difficult to do?
Dear Sisters:
Your tiredness, headache, your lack of desire, your need for peace, these are not weaknesses. They are your body and soul asking for care, not more pressure.
Before anything else, honour your natural rhythm:
🌙 Live with your circadian cycle.
🌸 Listen to your body’s signals.
🧘♀️ Rest when you need to, without guilt.
🥦Nourish yourself with food that is alive, fresh, whole, from the earth, not just to survive, but to rebuild and restore.
🩺Prioritise prophylactic medical checkups, don’t wait for illness to start caring for your health.
I’ll be sharing more on this in our sisters group, about how to reconnect with your body, your energy, and your peace.
And Dear Brothers:
Your desire is valid too but it must be held with kindness, not pressure, and with connection, not control. Women are uniquely created , energetically and physically, with rhythms that deserve respect and understanding.
Also focus on:
🌞 Live in sync with your circadian rhythm, rise with purpose, rest with discipline.
💪 Notice your body’s signals. Fatigue, tension, hunger, stress are not weakness, they’re guidance.
🛑 Allow yourself to pause and recharge.
🥗 Nourish yourself with food that sustains life, fresh, whole, and natural, not just for energy, but for clarity and longevity.
🏃♂️ *Move your body regularly through exercise, walking, or work that strengthens and resets your mind.*‼️
🪑 Men are not designed to sit in one place for too long, movement fuels mental clarity, emotional stability, and sexual vitality.
*A strong, active body supports a healthy libido, circulation, and hormone balance -key foundations for intimacy in marriage.*‼️
🩺 Prioritise prophylactic medical checkups, strength is not ignoring symptoms, it’s preventing them.
A peaceful marriage is not built on constant physical access.
It’s built on mutual care, emotional trust, and love that says:
“I see you. I support you. I will wait for you to feel safe again.”
May Allah SWT give all our marriages ease, gentleness, healing, and real connection in body, heart, and soul.
Ameen. 🤲🏻
