Salam Alaikum dear brothers and sisters, I hope you are doing well and having peace in your hearts and barakah in your homes.

Today about PARENTING AND RESPECT.

You may have noticed a lot of discussions and messages on social media about respectful, conscious, gentle, or positive parenting.
To some of you, it may sound strange - even unnecessary.
Many parents I meet think, “I was raised with punishments or pressure, and I turned out fine. My kids will too.”

But here’s something important to reflect on:

If we already feel the need to control another human being - especially a child - the real connection in that relationship starts to disappear.

What is respectful parenting really about?

At its core, respectful, gentle, and positive parenting all mean the same thing:

It’s about seeing any age child in front of us as a whole human bein - not “just a child,” but someone worthy of dignity, patience, and emotional care.

Respect should be given the way we would want to be respected.
Think about how you would speak to someone in a position of great honor -
like great Sheikh, the British King or Queen, or more beautifully, our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
You’d speak gently, listen attentively, and choose your words with care.

Now imagine offering that same kind of intentional, heartfelt respect to your child.
Not because they’ve earned it through age or authority -
but because they are a person, created by Allah SWT, with feelings, needs, and a growing heart.

*We don’t wait for children to behave well to show them respect.*‼️

We lead with respect, so they can learn what respect looks and feels like.

Children don’t yet have the emotional skills that we adults (hopefully) do and that’s exactly why we are the parents, not the other way around.

We guide. We stay calm when they can’t. We model emotional regulation, empathy, and kindness.
We teach with presence and not pressure.

✨ *Respectful parenting isn’t soft.*‼️

It’s strong.
It’s clear.
It’s deeply human.
And it has boundaries and rules.

Boundaries that protect, not punish. That teach, not shame.
That are firm, but always delivered with love and on time.

This is how we raise children who grow up with inner strength, emotional intelligence, and true respect for us and others not out of fear, but out of trust.

So parenting is not about control it’s about connection. ❤️
And if we want our children to grow up with emotional maturity, empathy, and confidence, it starts with how we treat them today.

With love, du’a, and deep encouragement for every parent striving to do better -one moment at a time. 💛🤲🏻

Have a blessed Friday.
