Salam Alaikum sisters. 🌸How are you feeling today?
Today about PRAISING CHILDREN.
When I was taught that we all need to stop praising kids, honestly I was against it, asking why???? It’s so good to hear from others and say “Well done” or “WOW”. And I believed kids needs to hear that.
But actual meaning is much more deep: instead of these words we REALLY need to SEE KIDS and see if our comment is really needed that moment. If your son hugged his little sister, it’s worth leaving this moment for them and not say anything.
🙅♀️Don't make it about YOURSELF and your approval, judgement, THAT NOW the child has become good/cool and MashAllah.
I do not encourage you to become apathetic, cold and not happy about what your kids doing. But our commenting “wow or cool, or great and well done , and even MashaAllah ” it’s usually impulsive and “dry” without conscious seeing or feeling a child.
Show the child that you see him, that you are happy together, when the child himself turns to you, when he shows his joy! FEEL THAT MOMENT without commenting and judging him, but actually seeing him. This is the true need of a person! To be seen, loved, appreciated and understood.
In order for a child to feel seen, valued and loved, we don't need to judge him, he doesn't need to try to be good, he already is and has always been good. ❤️
