Salam Alaikum sisters, how are you? 🤗
Today about TIME OUT😥⌛️
Time out is a punishment!
YOUR CHILDREN DON’T NEED PUNISHMENTS AND PRAISES.
THEY NEED YOUR LOVE AND EMPATHY. THEY NEED RELATION WITH PARENTS.❤️
TEACH THEM SKILLS according to their age and child’s natural development.
See your child and not situation, see what child trying to communicate, feel your child and his/ her emotions. Children behaving in the best they can. Evaluate what that day they had, did their all needs including love and attention are fulfilled and how they feeling.
Remember children are human beings and like we all they can have bad mood, become cranky, sad and cry anytime.
💔Time out was introduced believing that it is a better alternative to physical punishments.
But it works very similarly to physical violence, because separation (which can be physical or emotional separation - not seeing, not talking to the child) poses a survival threat to the child whose life depends on parents/guardians.
When you want to separate a child, it’s you who need break, not the child.
It’s your emotions!
Children always behaving in the best way they can, not that they don’t want.
That minute is for you an opportunity use self-regulation techniques + leave to another room to breath, if necessary, but before explaining to the child that you need space to regulate and breath and come back to him.💗
NOTE‼️Time out punishment does not help the child, does not provide missing skills, does not help to see other perspectives, does not accelerate the child's development or understanding. It gives only stress, anxiety and broken relation. Time out causing childhood traumas. 😢
I’m encouraging everyone to rethink your childhood, your past. And if your parents used punishments and time out, what lessons did you learn as a child? How did you feel? Did you really learn how to behave and got skills, or just afraid to be punished again and suppressed inside? What are your and parents relationship in your heart? Can you 100 % trust your parents and love them sincerely and unconditionally now?
About how to “punish” children or what “consequences” to use if they not listening and misbehaving we will be talking in classes through real examples. Some information will be posted here as well.
Please save this post as a reminder for yourself.
Have a nice evening❤️
