Salam Alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters, hope you are feeling well today.

Today about Unnecessary Inflammation from Anger. Science and Sunnah Remedies

When we argue or feel angry, our bodies release stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Science shows that these chemicals trigger inflammation that can last for 3–4 hours after the conflict. Researchers found that markers like IL-6 and CRP rise during stress and settle only with recovery.

But Alhamdulillah, we already know cure and modern science agrees:

💧 Drink water & perform ablution (wudū’):
The Prophet pbuh said: “Anger is from Shayṭān, and Shayṭān was created from fire. Fire is extinguished with water, so when one of you is angry, let him perform ablution.” (Abu Dawud).

Science confirms water cools the body, reduces stress hormones, and activates calm.

🚶 Walking & movement:
Even light walking lowers cortisol and inflammation. The Sunnah encouraged walking. Horse riding, archery, and swimming, all healthy outlets are good if you having prolonged stress and anger.

💃 Joyful movement / exercise:
Rhythmic movement (like dancing at home, stretching, or exercise) reduces stress, boosts endorphins, and clears the body of excess stress hormones.

🌿 Change posture:
The Prophet pbuh said: “If one of you is angry while standing, let him sit down; if still angry, let him lie down.” (Abu Dawud).

Science agrees - posture changes help the nervous system relax.

🕊️ Dhikr, silence, and forgiveness:
The Qur’an reminds us: “The servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth gently, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.” (25:63).

Science shows forgiveness and mindfulness reduce inflammation and protect the heart.

So next time anger rises , whether with a spouse, sibling, children or anyone - remember both science and Sunnah.

*First - STEP OUT - STOP*🛑 ‼️
💧 Drink water.
🕊️ Perform ablution.
🚶 Move -walk, stretch, exercise.
🌿 Breathe, change posture, and remember Allah SWT .

✨ *And in marriage especially*- when one of you or both become angry, you should gently remind:

💬 “Let’s pause, drink some water, or make wudū’ so our hearts can cool before we continue.”

If even one of you remembers and acts on this, InshaAllah peace will enter your home, and you will feel proud for practicing both the Sunnah and what science confirms.

Remember: when a person is very agitated or angry, the part of the brain responsible for clear thinking and decision-making ( the prefrontal cortex) becomes less active. At that moment, the “emotional brain” takes over, and logic shuts down.
That’s why the Prophet pbuh taught us to stay silent, change position, and seek refuge in Allah SWT, because in that heated state, arguing will not work. The person literally cannot think clearly until they calm down.
Science confirms what the Sunnah already taught: calming first, then speaking.

So In that moment, truly see your spouse and ask yourself :
“What is my spouse really feeling? What are his/ her needs? What are they afraid of losing or not receiving?”
Anger is just a cover for a deeper need - like wanting love, respect, care, or reassurance. If you try to understand that need and respond with kindness, the anger will fade and closeness will grow.

Be mindful, don’t cause yourself and others unnecessary inflammation for 4 h. Take a responsibility about yourself and your actions and reactions.

I’ve also attached a picture about “What you can control and what you can’t control.” Keep it saved on your phone and look at it often. It’s a reminder that we can’t control another person’s anger or reactions, but we can control our own choices: drinking water, making wudū’, staying calm, moving our body, and remembering Allah SWT .

That little shift protects your health, your peace, and your relationships InshaAllah.
Stay mindful.

And one more thing: pausing in anger is not running away. It’s just giving our bodies time to cool down. But you must agree to come back, talk, and solve the problem- not delay it.

All my duas for your peace and strength, and for your wisdom. 🤲🏻
