Salam Alaikum sisters🌸 Hope you’re feeling well.
Today continuing about PERSONAL BOUNDARIES.
2. Second practice. For that you need pen and 2 sheets of paper.
This practice will help you become aware of your personal boundaries: "How can I be treated and how can I not be treated?", "What suits me and what doesn't?" As consultations show, very often the environment around us does not even know what is OK for us and what is not.
Take a piece of paper and a pen:
- write down everything that you currently suffer/endure in your life (eg: cold, unpleasant shape of the nose, mother nagging, toxic colleague, not enough money , etc);
- when the list is finished, take a second sheet of paper and divide into two groups:
Example:
Mother nagging me.
On the other sheet in one column write:
1) "This (eg a nagging mother) I tolerate and will suffer because... (and at the end of each sentence write "It is my choice and my responsibility").
Say, "I tolerate my scolding mother and I will continue to suffer because I love her and it is my choice and my responsibility").
But if you feeling enough is enough in another column write:
2)"I suffer, but I don't want to suffer anymore because... I CAN CHANGE IT..." (and write your version of how you can adjust the situation so that it stops)".
If the internal answer comes that "I can't change it" - then replace the word "I can" with "I DON’T WANT TO" and write "I don't want to change anything and it's my choice and my responsibility".
For example: "I tolerate my nagging mother, but I don't want to suffer anymore because it wears me down. I can change this by being clear about how I feel when I hear her nagging ."
Or "I tolerate my nagging mother, but I don't want to suffer anymore and at the same time I don't want to change anything and it's my choice and my responsibility."
That's how the presence or absence of personal boundaries becomes not only a personal choice, but also a responsibility... YOUR PERSONAL responsibility with all the consequences that follow...
It’s ONLY YOU who can take responsibility and actions TO STOP THE behaviour/ situation what you don’t like/ suffer ect.
And ONLY YOU can put full stop to the story and step out.🛑
I’m wishing to everyone -first learn to feel clear YOUR personal boundaries. After all, the paradox is that a person who constantly crosses the personal boundaries of others often has no awareness of his own. So in this case, both the one who doesn't draw his boundaries and the one who ignores them are two mirrors facing each other. By learning to draw clear boundaries, you, by your example, will also teach those who cross them.
