Salam Alaikum sisters. 🌸 Hope you are doing better and better Alhamdulillah 😊

Today I read article: What should be taught to girls?

I’m inviting you to think about it today. About what skills and knowledge you are lacking as a woman and would be helpful to know in life? What skills your daughters lacking and what you need to teach them?

I translated parts of that article to you, and inviting you to think about it, contemplate and think what steps you as a mother can do to give that knowledge to your daughter/s now.

“Let's start from the end. From what we have today. What do we teach an ordinary girl? Up to six years old (in nursery and primary school ): - to read; - to write; - to count; - follow the regime; - live in a collective; - to sing; - to dance; - play in performances; - play with children. The list isn't bad, right? There is nothing very harmful about it, if the girl is not taken to nursery too early, she likes it there and she received enough attention from her parents. From 6 to 17 years (at school), girls are taught: - mathematics (sin, cos, integral, square root, systems of equations); - physics (laws - Newton's, Ohm's, Einstein's, electrical networks, speed, distance); - chemistry (table of elements, interactions, chemical reactions); - histories (from the Egyptian pyramids to the World wars, kings, wars, revolutions); - native languages; - literature; - foreign languages (usually - that London is a capital of Great Britain); - biology (stamens, pistils and infusoria clump); - geography; - political science; - - physical education.
What will she need from all this in life?

Did it bring happiness in family life to at least one of the women? Did it help at least somehow? Add to that 5 years in higher education , where women learn something they will not really need (only 10 percent of women with higher education are employed in their specialty). We have a huge baggage of completely unnecessary things. Sometimes even harmful - after all, women with two or three higher educations stop respecting their husbands, who only have one, but an incomplete one... Rather, I will tell you what the girl was taught earlier, how she was prepared for adult life. By the age of 5, the girl was a little goddess at home. Everyone pampered her and showered her with compliments. She would get a lot of attention so she would have something to give later. The girls were not abused and even more so, they were not beaten. They were the most beautiful flowers that graced the world. From the age of 5, the girl was taught by her mother and other close women. And taught her feminine arts…The list is specific - many of them do not need to be learned anymore (for example, there is an item "decorating the floor with gems"). Which of this list is relevant now? The girl was taught: - To sing. - Draw. - To dance. - Play musical instruments (plural!). - Dress nicely. - Do different hairstyles. - Decoration. - Theatrical excellence. - Drawing on hands with henna. - To make perfume. - Make toys with your own hands….- Caring for animals. - Write poems. - Listen to the man and follow him. - The art of oratory - the ability to speak beautifully. - Etiquette rules. - Languages, several. - Treat with herbs and their mixtures. - To distinguish real gems from fake ones. - Landscape design. - Home and things decorations. - The art of table setting. - To welcome guests. - Focus art. - Ask and solve riddles. - Massage for yourself and your loved ones. - Make the bed. - Cook in a variety of ways and deliciously. - Sew. - Do different handicrafts. - Make flower garlands and compositions. - The science of home harmony (better known as Feng Shui or Vastu). - Children's games… And this is not the whole list. Different translators render it differently, but the point is the same. Which of the following things will be unnecessary in the life of a grown woman? Which of the following will she never need? And which of these things could destroy her marriage and alienate her from her husband?

All these skills helped the girl develop the most important thing - creativity. When she has that artist streak, she can handle any hardship and be happy at the same time. I am in no way against education. I am for a wise approach. It would be much more useful to teach girls to communicate with boys, and in sex education classes to talk about chastity rather than condoms and pills. About what great power it is and how easy it is to lose it. Are those sex education classes even necessary? Is it not better to introduce another subject instead - the psychology of family relations? Let's imagine if we had acquired that knowledge at the age of 5-6 years, when everything is so easy to accept and everything grows. How easily we could listen to men, let them take care of us, do women's things... But we didn't have this. We were taught physical education, mathematics, mother tongue, geography and civil safety. Five or six days a week, 5-7 lessons a day….It has no family or relationship value. The role of mother and wife, housewife is not appreciated and accepted. What can change that? Do we have to wait until all of this is taught in school?….Learn everything you wanted to do as a child. - Teach this to your daughter. - Give her knowledge about the psychology of relationships. - Show her an example of your happy family.
Show her by example what a happy woman is! After all, it is our responsibility to become happy and to teach it to our children by our example. Olga Valyaeva.”

Wishing you a blessed Friday❤️
