We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum, dear sisters🌸, I hope you all are feeling well.
Today, is Thursday, I’d like to share a reflection about one of the most beautiful gifts Allah SWT has given us -our EYES. 👁️
About 20 years ago, while studying medicine, we used to look deeply into each other’s eyes, discovering how much they can reveal. Through the eyes, we can notice signs of fatigue, health imbalances, and even emotional tension.
I remember once being invited to work at a donor bank to remove the lens from a donor. It felt like taking away something sacred. Truly, the eyes are the mirror of the soul.
Allah SWT reminds us in the Qur’an:
“And it is He who produced for you hearing, vision, and hearts; little are you grateful.”
(Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:78)
✨ How often do we forget to be grateful for this precious gift - the ability to see, to perceive beauty, to connect with others through a single glance, and to witness the signs of Allah SWT in creation.❤️
So today, I invite you to do something simple yet meaningful:
💫 Pause and take 2 minutes to look deeply into your children’s eyes.
💫 Then, look into your husband’s eyes for 2 minutes.
You might notice something new that we often overlook -tenderness, fatigue, love, something your heart has been missing or…. I won’t tell you more you just see and feel it.
And one more practical excise.
I often teach the 20–20–20 rule, a simple and effective way to protect our eyes, especially when using screens:
🔹 Every 20 minutes
🔹 Look at something about 20 meters away
🔹 For at least 20 seconds
This helps the eye muscles relax and reduces dryness, headaches, and tension. When we look at screens, our blink rate drops from the normal 15-20 blinks per minute to only 5-7, which causes eye strain and dryness. Regular breaks restore comfort and clarity.
And few things from holistic perspective:
🌹 Keep a healthy distance from screens (50-70 cm).
🌹 Maintain soft, balanced lighting.
🌹 Be mindful of posture -good circulation supports eye and brain health.
🌹 Practice gentle eye movements, rotate eyes 👀 and take time outdoors.
🌹 Eat foods rich in vitamin A, lutein, zinc, and omega-3 -such as carrots, greens, nuts, and fish.
🌹 Stay hydrated, sleep well, and allow your eyes to rest from bright screens.
🌹 Guard your gaze -let your eyes look at what brings peace and purity to your soul.
🩺 The health of our eyes often reflects the health of the whole body. For example, when blood circulation weakens -as in diabetes, high blood pressure, or kidney disease - the small vessels of the retina also suffer, leading to blurred or weaker vision. The eyes, kidneys, brain, and heart are all nourished by the same vascular system, so what benefits one often supports the others.
🦷*The teeth and jaw* can also influence the eyes indirectly. Chronic infections or tension in the jaw may cause pain that radiates toward the temples or eyes, due to shared nerve pathways.
Keeping oral health balanced helps reduce overall facial strain.
🧠 The brain and eyes are deeply connected - the optic nerve is part of the brain itself.❗️
Stress, lack of oxygen, or poor posture can reduce blood flow and cause headaches or blurred vision.
*Calming the mind through breathing, dhikr, and prayer helps nourish both the brain and eyes.*‼️
💞 From an emotional and psychosomatic perspective, the eyes often express what words cannot:
👀*Blurred vision* may reflect inner confusion or resistance to “seeing” reality.
👀*Eye tension* can arise from emotional overload or stress.
👀*Dry eyes* sometimes accompany deep tiredness or unexpressed sadness.
When we soften the heart, forgive, and invite calm into our inner world, our physical vision often feels lighter and clearer too.
اللَّهُمَّ نَوِّرْ أَبْصَارَنَا بِنُورِ الْإِيمَانِ وَاحْفَظْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ
O Allah, enlighten our eyes with the light of faith and protect them from all harm.🤲🏻
🌸 *May our eyes always see truth, beauty, and light. And may our hearts remain open to gratitude and compassion.*🌸
