Salam Alaikum dear sisters,🌸
How are you feeling today?
Welcome, sister, who has recently joined our group. ❤️
Today about: SPIRITUAL DEBT- PROMISES.
We often think of debt as money—but what about the promises we make and forget?
The ones whispered to a child: “I’ll take you to the park tomorrow.”
The ones said to a friend: “I’ll call you later InshAllah .”
The ones made to another sister: “I’ll help you out next week.”
But then… life happens. Circumstances shift.
Our energy changes, our mood softens or hardens.
We don’t always break our word out of bad intent—we’re just tired, overwhelmed, human.
Still, let’s pause and ask:
How do you feel when you’ve promised something… but can’t do it?
Do you feel guilty? Uneasy? Ashamed? Or ok?
*How many times have we led ourselves into small lies just to avoid those uncomfortable feelings?
Saying, “I forgot,” when really, we didn’t want to face the disappointment.
Or hoping the child, friend, or sister will just let it go.
*How much time have we spent thinking what to say—and how to say it*—just to avoid looking like a liar or a broken promiser?
We’re not always trying to deceive… sometimes, we’re just trying to protect ourselves from guilt, from shame, from that uneasy feeling in the heart.
Can you easily face it and acknowledge it?
It’s hard. But it’s also where truth begins.
*Let’s be honest—with ourselves first.*‼️
Let’s be women who don’t overpromise, and who teach our children to be truthful, even when it’s hard.
Because sisters, know this:
*A promise is a trust. A word is a weight.*‼️
In Islam, promises are not light—*they are spiritual responsibilities.*
Breaking them without valid reason can hurt hearts, break trust, and leave us in quiet debt before Allah SWT .
And yes, *we women are like the sea*—deep, powerful, ever-moving, full of emotion and change.
*That’s our beauty. But also our test.
So practically how can we protect ourselves from one of the spiritual debts?
✅ Pause before promising. Say: “I’ll try my best, inshaAllah, but can’t promise.”
✅ Don’t speak from emotion alone. Let intention meet ability.
If you’re not sure, say: “I’ll think about it and let you know,” or “I’ll check my schedule and get back to you.”
*It’s better to delay a response than to carry the weight of a broken word.*‼️
✅*If you can’t fulfill it, acknowledge it.* A sincere apology can erase a debt before it grows heavy. Let’s be trustworthy.
✅*Ask Allah SWT for help*. To be trustworthy, mindful, and balanced.
Let’s strive to be women whose words are light and healing—not promises that burden others or ourselves.
*May Allah SWT help us fulfill what we say—or speak less and live more truthfully.*🤲🏻❤️
