We for You | Daily Reflection | by Abu Hamdan
Yesterday we spoke about purifying the heart before Ramadan.
Removing envy.
Removing resentment.
Letting go of hidden grudges.
I recently came across something that stayed with me:
Holding a grudge doesn’t hurt the other person as much as it drains you.
And the more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
When we carry resentment, we think we’re standing firm.
We think we’re protecting our pride.
But in reality, it consumes mental energy.
It keeps replaying in the mind.
It quietly shapes how we react.
It steals focus.
It limits emotional growth.
And slowly… it keeps us stuck.
How much potential is blocked because part of our heart is busy holding onto the past?
Allah says:
*“And let them pardon and overlook. Would you not love that Allah should forgive you?”*
(Qur’an 24:22)
That verse is not just about forgiveness.
It’s about freedom.
Freedom from bitterness.
Freedom from internal tension.
Freedom from carrying what no longer benefits you.
The companions reached high levels not only because of their actions, but because their hearts were clean, filled with yaqeen, free from constant internal battles.
A heavy heart struggles to rise.
Ramadan is coming.
If we want growth, if we want taqwa, if we want our worship to feel alive .. we cannot enter the month weighed down by old resentment.
Ask yourself quietly tonight:
Is this grudge protecting me…
or preventing me?
May Allah purify our hearts, expand our chests, and free us from what limits our growth. Ameen
